"AI" generated code is everywhere. It's impossible to avoid. We can see it. The only thing using the tools would accomplish is expose us to a bunch of cognitive hazards that come with chatbot bullshit.

Oh right I forgot @kenney is on the fediverse. You rule Kenney!
Everyone should follow and admire and give money to Kenney
Every time I see a vibe coder say something along the lines of "if you haven't used these tools over the past five minutes, you don't know what they're capable of, because everything's different now!" I get a little bit perplexed.
You do know that we can see the output without using it ourselves, right? Some of us are still reviewing pull requests and reading through code repositories, y’know?

@icing a thing I'm still grieving is the world where when someone reported a bug/vuln it was typically because either A) they were a user of the software, and bumped into the issue 😎 they thought harder about the code than I had when I wrote it, and found something overlooked. Some combination of those factors helped alleviate the feeling of "damn, I fucked up".
I'm all for improving things but the wave of input from drive-by "people" that are both divorced from the purpose/use of the software, and have also spent no time doing any real analysis of their own sucks... It wears you down in a uniquely new way and there's nothing compensating for the negative feelings.

That is an exceptionally strange position to take. By that logic, gun control policy proposals are manifestly incoherent because they largely come from advocates who do not regularly shoot guns — one can disagree with gun control policies on the merits, but requiring advocates to regularly operate firearms would be ludicrous.
Why do you consider that to be reasonable in this case?
