Hi y’all, I’m at the Anarchist Tech Convergence in Montreal and dipping my toes back into the social media waters with this #introduction post!
FediDevs
These are the people building the Fediverse!
Hey, just discovered the fediverse ! For the moment, seems like an architechture similar to matrix (many individual servers), but closer to an usage to instagram or twitter ! Very cool, thank's MATC !

Mastodon admins!
There is a spam wave hitting the Fediverse consisting of many mentions and a dubious/dangerous web link.
You can find help for dealing with this at:
➡️ @iftas
IFTAS is posting and sharing lots of practical suggestions, and it is well worth following them anyway as they provide valuable resources for Fediverse safety. If you browse their timeline at https://mastodon.iftas.org/@iftas you'll see all their posts and shares.
Then on Saturday night at 20, your favourite provider hits you up with an email: 'Ok, syspatch-ed the physical server and rebooted, all good. I'm here if you need anything'.
They're truly inimitable.
Thanks, @OpenBSDAms !
imagine if the official linux foundation account helped you with your wifi
@netbsd that's why people donate to the NetBSD Foundation while BigTechs to the Linux Foundation.
Sure, I'm exaggerating here. But not that much 😉

#⚠️
i consider "wafrn is a deeply unserious website" a glowing endorsement actually
why should we be serious?
Hello, my name is Evan. I am at #AnarchistTechConvergence in #Montreal and this is my #introduction. I like making wine, native plants, and other fun things.

#Pixelfed has officially released API documentation for devs, and this is really good news!
https://developers.pixelfed.org/api
Many #Fedilab users also have a Pixelfed account. The work of the Pixelfed team on this documentation is greatly appreciated, and I was waiting for it.
Updating Fedilab with it will be a priority, as the app has always supported Pixelfed with its own layout.
I said before that Accept should never be used outside of Follow interactions. Want to "accept" something? Introduce a new activity type, AcceptSomething.
But now I am fairly certain that Add and Remove should be avoided too, for similar reasons. They all look the same. To figure out what is happening, you may try to resolve target, but that doesn't help because all collections have either Collection or OrderedCollection type and usually there is no property indicating the purpose of the collection.
Hence, AddToMyCollection is much better than Add.
Add and Remove should only be used for representing side-effects: https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src/branch/main/fep/fc48/fep-fc48.md#activities-and-side-effects
