FediDevs
These are the people building the Fediverse!
@moeria @perspektivbrocken @junior42 Thanks for tagging Mobilizon, this is exactly what this fediverse software is made for.
There is no "global search" because it's decentralized. This being said, if you're based in hungary, there is little chance you want to browse events in the US. The plan is to have a general purpose instance in each territory. This instance federates the smaller, specialized local instances. Then for global search you can search in this general purpose instance.
@moeria @perspektivbrocken @junior42 Where are you based? You can start here and see if there is an instance in your country: https://mobilizon.org/#join
Or start one if it's missing :)
Does anyone know of an article that explains why someone might want to publish their blog or newsletter into the social web, and explains the basics of how to do that? Using simple, clear language that non-geeks with no prior knowledge of decentralised tech or social web networks can easily make sense of.
@strypey @johnonolan @writefreely we made a landing page on WordPress.com https://wordpress.com/social-web/ and produced an awesome video series with @docpop that explains the fediverse in general but we also talk about the blogging part: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6nDc7ACvovJMt8MEiebpsXnlBuKp158j

the amount of nostalgia i have for sublime text is off the charts
yes i know the license popup was stupid but I loved that thing

Hey @pixelfed @dansup are there currently any issues displaying photos? On my own profile and some other profiles I follow, most of the photos are blurred. My profile picture is gone too, and even though I can upload a new photo, it isn't displayed afterwards. Is there anything I can do to fix the problem, or is this more likely on the server side?
@DerTypAusW @pixelfed Are you blocking cloudflare or have routing issues?
@tctdiy_gaming @pixelfed We would really appreciate the source code of this "open" app.
@jumpingpants @tctdiy_gaming It will be open sourced when its ready!
Hi @stefano@bsd.cafe ! I am working on LittleFedi.
I adore the project. I adore the fact that you guys call yourself Little Computer People and that you run the project anonymously.
I'll make my repo provate out of respect for the project and its desired distribution path, but I would love to contribute to the project!
Totally understand if you're not accepting new members or contributions, I'm also quite happy noodling on my own 'forked' copy and adding features for myself :)
Thank you for an amazing project!
(Starting with some quality of life enhancements around posting but plan to improve the client API so Ivory and other mobile clients will work more reliably.)
@feoh thanks. The devs are still putting things together, merging branches, etc. But if there's something nice we can import from other contributors, I'm sure they'll gladly evaluate them.

Ich gehe davon aus, das @KonstantinNotz nun seine Arbeit getan – und Auskunftsklage eingericht hat, damit das nicht wieder Journalist*innen tun müssen.
Dazu schreibe ich nun eine Anfrage.
@daishimavt.bsky.social
Ill assume this post is the reason why the main wafrn instance had a bunch of registrations this morning

We are preparing an update of our app for Android that moves the Compose button to the navbar and improves performance!
Because of the Social Media Platforms (Ofcom Licensing) Bill in the uk, fediverse admins globally now have to get a license to be able to be connectable from the uk.
Edit: I forgot to add that this hasn't passed yet, but it probably will because politicians don't listen to us here
This is the bill: https://bills.parliament.uk/bills/4285
Please not that it says operating in the uk not operating from the uk, so it applies globally.
To get a license:
- You have to send snail mail to ofcom to get a license
- Employ a compliance team
- Keep all your logs
- Ensure that content made available does not
"incite criminal conduct, violence, hatred or public disorder." Whatever the fuck that means, it's so vague you can make that anything
- Ensure that content made available does not violate the laws of the uk... So you have to follow uk law outside of the uk now
- Ensure that there isn't misinformation, so I would just not have to post misinformation on my lemmy instance then? Or is that not enough for them? I can't remove stuff on other instances you fucking morons
- You have to dox all your users
The punishment for breaking any of these rules is as follows:
- An unlimited fine
- Up to two years of jail time
- A court order to have ISPs block you(fucking horrible my lemmy instance is in my wardrobe I don't want my internet cut off)
- And anything else the court " considers appropriate." Which is anything so just anything else

Forget billionaire algorithms, use RSS. Most sites have them.
Both the Thimbleweed Park Blog and Grumpy Gamer do. Full text feeds.
I've been using and serving RSS since 2005.
All the cool kids are doing it.
