@CoMaps I've started to use CoMaps as a way of distancing myself from fascist-enabling Google and Apple, and so far it's been a treat!

And you can call this whatever oversensitive, feel-good "woke" nonsense you want, but I've got the data and I'm right: a code of conduct, community standards and moderation enforcing them, the psychological safety of your community, these are near term competitive advantages and long term survival tools. Treating the process of getting involved and the experience of staying involved in your community like they're _a product_, worthy of usability testing and ergonomic refinement, is a power tool.
The impact of a single toxic person in a position of power in a community is hard to overstate.
That can be a respected person in an informal community, or a manager(/-equivalent) in a formal one. But the impact can be massive either way.

@NGIZero @EC_NGI Nice list of projects. The one that caught my eye was Economiverse. I did notice a typo in their description though. It says "They can communicate with sellers and directlyfollow shops". There is no space between directly and follow.

It's also a question of compatibility. We are all sitting on the mastodon network. We all behave according to the mastodon APIs. To a greater or lesser extent everyone speaks "MFAP" (Mastodon-Flavored ActivityPub).
So it isn't surprising that for a lot of people, especially when communicating colloquially, it become the category name so long as they are on the microblogging side of the network.

Reminder: forced password rotation is a bad thing and must be avoided.
Because all the characters will slide towards one side, the resulting distribution will not be random, but very skewed.

A better way to implement this sort of thing would've been to send an ActivityPub DM with a code or a link. I've already seen this somewhere. This way you only use a common ActivityPub feature and don't depend on each server's client API at all.
