These are the people building the Fediverse!
@dante yes, banger of a book! Highly highly recommend it.
@dante fair warning, it made me desperately want to build a grand strategy game based on its principles. If it made ME want that, I can hardly begin to imagine what it will do to you....
It’s a weird feeling realizing I’ve legitimately contributed to English-language knowledge about Takashi Murakami, but it’s unlikely to actually make it into the published literature because I haven’t published in a formal journal and I’m probably not citable in more formal environments. https://cdrom.ca/art/2024/06/16/hiropon.html
@misty poking around your website and suddenly filled with the urge to replay Haruhiko Shono's Gadget, which I picked up from a bargain bin in like 1995 for a few bucks and fascinated me as a child
Our updated roadmap is open for discussion! This roadmap update was rooted largely in feedback from current adopters, feature requests from potential adopters, and issues that the community has raised.
We look forward to your input! 🐣
@darius oooo that sounds like my shit, i'll have to check that out

new blog post: newspapers
https://blog.dante.cool/newspapers/
on social media and its material, or lack thereof
> The "potential field of newspapers" was important, since it was broadly "the nation" or the people who could read it.
Yes! IIRC, Benedict Anderson argues in Imagined Communities that the very concept of nation itself came into existence due in part to the nation-building properties of newspapers and other such print media.

@pikesley wait, *Vanilla Ice* is doing a podcast about *Shergar*? I really think something went badly wrong with the simulation in 2015/16.

In my guitar lesson tonight we went back to some tunes I’m sure I had forgotten how to play. Took ages to get Killing In The Name right the first time round, and I didn’t expect to still be able to play it. But then, I could, and it was a lot easier than I remember!
Turns out, I’ve actually got better. Who’d’ve thought it?
woohoo! we've also integrated interledger's webmonetization standard into bridgy fed, so we can bridge this across networks 👀

Ya es tiempo de...

@cwebber I’m starting to feel that building open source licences on copyright was the right idea but the wrong foundation, and that we should have based them on the concepts of academic misconduct and plagiarism, which, when wielded properly, can ruin the career of a rogue who chooses to ignore the licence.
@futzle Well, open source is in many ways a *reaction* to software becoming subject to copyright in 1980, whereas previously all software was in the public domain
@herve71
