@futurebird huh I didn't realize it was an annual $5k tax shelter per child. I just saw them touting the $1k for kids born between 2025 and 2028. So instead of putting away money for your kids in the bank, you invest it here and reduce your highest bracket taxable income by 5 or 10k...
@andrew @futurebird I would never put a red cent in these accounts because there's absolutely no guarantee you'll ever see it again. Nothing on the IRS website or the White House website about these accounts mention any kind of financial safety net applied to these accounts. So these are risky investments fueled by tax breaks in a highly volatile stock market in which the main over-valued actors are explicitly mentioned in the program?
It looks like yet another scam. The free $5,000? Take them. Beyond that? You're on your own.
@cwebber Also "Plus, Anthropic is unique in that our ability to spend tokens for internal use far exceeds what any other business would realistically want to spend."
@UkeleleEric @grumpygamer
Maybe there will come a time where this will become the norm. Human intellect will not be enough. Its not that hard to imagine, considering we have tons of scifi on the subject.
in my opinion the answer is if a picture is worth a thousand words, you'll actually have to write those words bucko. "studio ghibli style trending on artstation" isn't gonna cut it. use your typing skills for something useful, and better yet, let me read your words directly. stop holding out on us
@cwebber N commits don't translate to N pull requests, though. From what I can tell, AI agents generate quite a number of commits per pull request.
@wolf Ok sure. There is *still* no way anyone can keep on top of that, especially happening simultaneously all over a code base.
@Noisecolor @grumpygamer I am not a scientist and thus cannot comment specifically on that.
That said, I am a programmer. When I look at some of the trash that people have vibe coded, it makes me wonder if these scientific papers are actually any good, or if they just look good.
I've seen "working" code come out of AI, but all too often the actual underlying code ends up being brittle, unmaintainable, and a nightmare to reason through. It may look to an outsider like good code, but any even moderately competent programmer understands the perils of the massive amounts of technical debt these things needlessly introduce.
Maybe it's different with scientific papers, but I doubt it.
They are bragging about 30k vibecoded commits to their codebase per day, and saying engineers are reviewing intent to keep them on track.
Anthropic has 2,500 engineers. Not all of them are doing code review, and probably not all on the project(s) counted here, but let's pretend they were.
At 30,000 commits per day, that is 12 slop PRs to review a day.
Literally more than one per hour.
Nobody can can review not only code but *intent* of what's happening at that point.
And they are saying they expect this rate of growth to continue. If it continues at the current *rate of growth* we will see number to keep growing *exponentially*.
Anthropic, of course, is not just riding down the vibe bobsled, they have rocket packs attached to the bobsled, careening at record speed https://www.anthropic.com/engineering/redesigning-source-control

Germany's sovereign office suite, openDesk from ZenDiS, now deploys Element Server Suite (ESS) under its own branding.
What that means for openDesk operators:
🔒 Hardened images
🧭 Upstream ESS, so faster features and fixes
🔑 Next-generation auth, with openDesk's Nubus-based IdP
We're with ZenDiS on the openDesk stand at Smart Country Convention in Berlin this week (13-15 October). Come and say hello!

A small French association lost 600 GB of data when Microsoft ended its "free" nonprofit offer. That's exactly why associations should not rely on GAFAM.
I have supported #Framasoft for years. They can't offer as much storage, but with our help they can do more for everyone:

@hypolite I am having difficulty parsing this sentence.
Are you alluding to the fact that people will tend to see patterns in random data and draw false conclusions from that perceived pattern?
@UkeleleEric @grumpygamer
So unlikely that it had no chance of solving any mathematical problems? 😂
@Noisecolor It does, but so unhelpfully that several Field medalists had to take a stand against blind mathematical problem solving because the scientific benefit isn't the solution itself, it's the journey a human took to solve it.
@spacelizard @grumpygamer Not if it leads to other discoveries.
