Google demands every developer's identity in the name of security. Yet more than 50 Play Store apps hiding malware were installed 2.3 million times¹. Meanwhile, #FDroid, which builds every app from source and rejects black boxes, is under threat. This is not about security, it is about control. That is why I don't want to support this joke.
FediDevs
These are the people building the Fediverse!

REEEEEEEEEE FUCKING GABBO YOU ASSHOLE YOU HAVE TO PUT IN WAFRN A LOT OF love and joy and make your loved ones feel comfy and safe
I'd be a terrible congress person because someone could easily bribe me with this or ... like a box of ants or something.
@djsundog That _kinda_ was the case in a bunch of countries until Reaganomics/Thatcherism/Neoliberalism flipped the table in the 1970s-1990s: (modulo some rose-tinted histrionics, and with a lot of shortcuts taken to tell the story in 3 paragraphs)
What was needed to run a modern society was mostly run by the state, or close to it (regulation), or partially to keep the rest of the crowd honest (e.g. in housing), at a loss if need be.
The "free market" still had plenty of room with the companies that provided the nice-to-haves etc. That also meant that the casino gamblers at Wall St and elsewhere couldn't endanger the necessities, only the extras (and with a social safety net, even the workers there were mostly inconvenienced)
And then the rumor came up that private businesses are "more efficient" (and that "efficiency" is a value in itself, and not merely a tool), and that persists to this day.
Me he pasado la tarde tejiendo y viendo Llama a la comadrona, porque por la mañana soy un gymbro y por las tardes mi madre.
@senda@neopaquita.es
A mi wifey4lifey le encanta esa serie
No sabia que la doblaban al español
@djsundog Honestly I'd be happier with either of those than with the third category, businesses that have to not only make more profit every year than they did the year before but also increase the rate at which those profits increase otherwise the business is a failure
there are two conflicting sides of the copyright problem. If AI corps are slurping in copyrighted content and producing output based on that input, then either ① it's a way to do LLM-washing, so it would theoretically be legit to have an LLM ingest source-code to Windows or Photoshop or the Disney corpus of works and generate copyright-clean output, or ② it's a copyright violation and all the current LLM output produces a huge liability for existing AI companies and they can't launder Open Source/Copyleft code-bases' licenses away.
A legal decision will make a headache for powerful parties either way.
Measuring how cooked Fedi userbase is, by measuring how many of them want to enforce (semi)centralized moderation policies/practices on the network. With this poll result we can extrapolate that:
- 1% wants to be on a completely centralized platform
- 20% would prefer if they could force the network to adopt half or more of their moderation policies
- 25% understands decentralization and federated social media
- 53% would prefer it they could force the network to adopt some of their policies
Pretty dire.

@phnt This is Mr. Fediverse and his followers. It should come as no surprise that the poll results show strong support for synced blocklists.
@Gargron
It's your webshop. If you decide to not sell stuff on specific markeds, that's your choice, and it's okay.
Telling those markeds the reason is "everything is out of stock" is kinda bullshit, though.
You're one short message away from giving a completely valid explanation to folks who'd happily buy your stuff.
Instead you gaslight them.
Do better.
@baardhaveland I don’t control how the shop software works.
@Volu Merci. 🙂
Mazel Tov !
I should block people more often. For my mental health.
specially when they are being entitled assholes
@8ball should I go to the gym?
@gabboman okay but I didn't ask
Are you bragging or complaining xd
You don't like my opinionated post? Unfollow and go away, I'm not interested in a debate

You were insulting a lot of people there, and im part of the people you have insulted.
At least I feel like that.

important to remember that annualized revenue is just the best month × 12. actual revenue is likely even lower
@exchgr At my year end performance reviews I should start insisting on annualized productivity. "Look at all these amazing things I did in March. Extrapolate that to the other 11 months and I'm your best employee."
@gabboman welp 🤷
@rail@social.flufftech.net
As example I have been working for almost 5 years on wafrn. And more people has joined in the development of it.
No funding from governments nor corporations (ok some credit on upcloud but that was just for some testing)
I have spent a lot of time on this project. Other devs have spent more time than me on their projects. And stuff like this hurts
@gabboman found an oss dev xd
@rail@social.flufftech.net
Yeah and that stuff hurts
RE: https://toot.fedilab.app/@apps/117413631630202078
To be clearer, #Fedilab has been unpublished and is waiting for full removal.
You can't search for it anymore, but if you already installed it, you can still find it at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.fedilab.android
Google's last reply, a few weeks ago, was that they need time. I want to delete my account, but first I need to remove my apps, and they refuse. That's why, as a European, I asked them to respect my rights under the GDPR.
All software is shit but most of the open source software took that as a challenge
