Anyway, the moment I heard the news, I opened an issue in Fedify with a master plan for moving Deno out of our main development tooling.

Fedify will keep supporting Deno alongside Node.js, and keep publishing packages to JSR alongside npm. Deno just won't be what we develop with anymore.

Deno is joining Cloudflare.

I wrote about Deno's decline a few months ago: I wish Deno would keep doing what it does best. I shared its vision, but I think it never got far because a startup was the one carrying it out. This decision makes me more sure of that.

It also settles something for me. From now on I won't trust a development platform built by a startup, however good the vision. Too risky, too easy to get betrayed.

What I'd rather see is people with strong ideas about development platforms letting go of the impatience and building them as community-driven F/OSS projects instead. Funding is the obstacle, of course. I hope good F/OSS funds like NLnet and the Sovereign Tech Fund keep expanding.

My worst nightmare happened today in NYC.

A Dominican Dad was shot feet away from his child by dirty cops.

School had just let out and ICE agents posing as construction workers shot Oscar Belgal as he went about his day in the Bronx.

The norm, ICE transported the victim under instead of actually calling medics, once at the hospital they wouldn't let anyone see him and he's ALREADY been wisked off to a concentration camp without complete medical care.

@pierre Ça me rappelle de très mauvais souvenir d’un ERP SAP ou il fallait faire exactement la même chose. Et ça ne choquait personne, c’était juste “c’est comme ça qu’il faut faire” que chaque nouvelle personne apprenait en arrivant.
