These are the people building the Fediverse!
Britain has agreed to strip its consulate in occupied East Jerusalem of its consular status and withdraw its consul general and about 20 diplomats, days after warning it would expel 27 Israeli diplomats from London if Israel moved against the mission.
Why do they let anyone interfere with their relationship with a state they have recognized?

The firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan will be livestreamed, the Pentagon said Thursday.

Governments shouldn’t kill anybody. Not enemies. Not prisoners. Not even children!

@evan now do early voting vs on the day
Is it okay to talk about the Gaza genocide on October 7?
#EvanPoll #poll #Palestine #Oct7
Thanks, all. My answer is Yes.
The last time you voted, how did you cast your vote?
Thanks everyone! My last vote was on Monday, in person.
Do not try to emulate the best person or a past person from history. Learn that people make mistakes and missteps. Recognize the faults for what they are. No need to be a person who died 100 years ago when you are who you are now. Yeah sure learn from those who have gone before us but, do not try to be them.
Max Stirner, Emma Goldman, Benjamin Tucker, Buenaventura Durruti, Nestor Makhno, Pyotr Kropotkin, Mikhail Bakunin, Joseph Proudhon, Renzo Novatore, and the rest of them. They all are dead. You are alive.
They shaped our past and our present. You will shape the future.

@Steve_Bate "Unlike Lamport's distributed systems, the unit of change in the ActivityPub network is the activity. Activities are assigned the logical clock time from when they were performed; other objects have the clock time of the last activity that changed their state."
@Steve_Bate I think the question of non-Activity events is interesting. There are a few that are common in the ecosystem which have an effect on visible state. Things like registering new users, or some moderation events. It'd probably be good to add a note that servers should advance their clock on those kinds of events.

Niemand schaut weiter.

Everybody has to coordinate with Starlink because SPACEX CONTROLS ORBIT. That's against the Outer Space Treaty.
Your engineering challenge, SpaceX, is to provide your services with fewer satellites. Not yell at everyone else for having satellites too.
So, I want to set general expectations before kicking things off officially.
Yes, We Distribute is launching a #Bonfire community and will be collaborating with the devs to build a unique flavor of it. We're still in the process of getting the basics set up, so please...be gentle.
I still have a few chores to do before pulling some levers and migrating our old Akkoma accounts over, but I'm really excited! We've wanted to do Bonfire for a long time!
"Woke," "DEI," "critical race theory," and a bunch of other terms were coined to address anti-Black racism in the US and each and every one of them has become a snarl word in the minds of white conservatives, whether they are Republicans or Democrats.
@evan That's what confused me, because Lamport doesn't make that claim. He also included in-process events, but they don't imply a system or state change. The Lamport messages carry the logical clock stamp, similar to how the FEP describes activities carrying it. I can see it's not exactly Lamport logical clocks, but I'm not so clear yet how much it diverges from that model. Maybe the FEP will describe that in more detail in the future.

for a while tech was kind of like the "escape hatch" for people who couldn't or wouldn't fit in at other corporations and now it's sort of like a flaming timber fell on the escape hatch while people were still lining up to get in
