the automatic subtitles on YouTube are not properly accessible. swear words being blanked out is not neutral accessibility for Deaf people like me. if the person in the video is swearing, we need to have that information conveyed to us, not [_____]. we are Deaf, not children. but no one wants to talk about this.

@pixelfed Thanks! love to see more customization implemented! I didnt intuitively expect it in "Content Preferences" though.
Maybe a "Appearance" Category with more even more Options would be great:
Besides Theme and Icon that could include a toggle for hiding the text of the navigation items. (Like the mastodon App in iOS) as well as a setting for general font size.
On a small phone (iPhone 12 mini) the Text for navigation gets quite cramped.
@wwwwaaah We wanted to limit the main Settings screen to groups of 3 max, which is why so many settings are layered under Manage Account and Content Preferences.
Managing font size is on our roadmap!

It really sucks that retoots don't notify on Mastodon. Definitely something I'll be changing when I eventually get around to working on my own fediverse project.

The new Pixelfed app handles video uploads much better, and we're working on a custom optimization library to improve support further.
If you upload a video that exceeds the max file size limit, you will see a trim segment bar that will limit the length, and you can drag it to the segments you want to share.
We're also going to increase the max upload limit for video, improve backend transcoding and support new codecs for higher quality support with reduced file size.

@dansup Why not offer some kind of dropdown where the default is "Media" but with the additional option "Text only" to view text only postings.
I'm still dreaming of a platform, where you can have Twitter (Mastodon), Instagram (Pixelfed) Youtube (Peertube) and Reddit (Piefed) in one place. Why the need of limiting yourself by creating multiple accounts on multiple platforms? Why not offer different Views ("All", "Media", "Photos", "Videos", "Text", "Groups") to filter and present the postings?
@ak79 That is our goal actually, we do have a Groups/Communities feature that is ripe for refactoring, and will support lemmy/piefed and other reddit type servers in a separate feed!
