I am not against gamification. It can help make dull process funnier.

Well, this is cute. I looked up an #AirCanada flight in Firefox and then pasted the URL into a Chromium window where I was logged into my Aeroplan Super-Elite account. Air Canada added $300 to the flight price when I tried to load it from a logged-in browser. Hell of a customer loyalty perk!
I bought the ticket in my non-logged-in window, then added my FF number to it.

@hypolite i guess also, people who spend lots of time on smartphone apps like instagram or tik tok are often subconsciously optimizing all the images they create for those platforms. and those apps don't let you rotate your phone presumably because it would be disruptive to the infinite scroll factor.
then again, when i was studying darkroom photography with SLRs built with horizontal format as the default, i remember people forgetting that you can turn them vertical also...

@palomakop Yeah, exactly, the form factor dictates the main orientation.
Internationalized Webfinger Handles in ActivityPub
ActivityPub software usually (but not always!) uses a handle format defined by RFC 7033, Webfinger, which looks like username@domain.example. There's a ActivityPub and Webfinger report from the Social Web Community Group that details how this interaction works.

Just registered for @fediforum , an unconference about the social web held virtually 6-7 Oct 2026. I will propose a session on #GloballyInclusiveHandles and #i18n in general. I will have my #COSCUP2026 slides, "@小明@範例.測試, or, Fediverse handles in every language", if anyone wants to see them. #Fediverse #Fediforum #GloballyInclusive #Internationalization #GILT

@futurebird The text generator, uh, finds a way
the youth don't seem to realize that you can turn your phone to landscape when taking a photo.
@palomakop If most the media you consume is in portrait orientation, I feel like it makes sense to also shoot everything in portrait orientation?
Analog cameras were awkward to shoot in portrait orientation, which made landscape pictures of people either truncated or tiny compared to the background.

It’s difficult to say why so many people love this, but the Jolf, a very popular flying machine by Volsky, has undeniably become a classic.

First day of Fediforum had Anil Dash as the keynote speaker.
His talk was eye-opening and a call to support the Open Social Web.
I’ll post the video of his talk here when it’s released. It was so good!

🐛 Another version with a bug fix just released https://github.com/cheeaun/phanpy/releases/tag/2026.10.06.bb8c326
Possibly affecting users on iOS 26.5/27 onwards; attaching media via the menu in composer wasn't working (attaching via button works).
