The two middlewares we removed had to do with two factor auth checks, and verified email checks.
We used to do that on every webUI request. Now we only do that during auth, like it should be.
At scale, this is noticeable, and a nice side effect is that our oauth flow now properly supports 2FA when authenticating with our app, like I did with Loops!

The performance improvements we've shipped in the past month are HUGE!
This means you can host more people with less resources, thanks to more db indexes, improved redis data structures, and the removal of two expensive middlewares!
Our new webUI will further reduce backend load, by intelligently caching data across pages.
OK, that one in the middle at the top, the smiling one? Fairly confident it's their birthday and the rest are all singing to them.

We had to update the backend and federation to ensure we have a solid foundation to build the new web and mobile experience on.
Then we did. 11 releases in 2 months, along with our innovative Block Synchronization FEP to improve safety.
Now we're rolling out our new mobile app, and next month, we'll be rolling out our new webUI, a full PWA with web push support!
