Husband. Cofounder. Somewhat ridiculous. The clump of brain cells responsible for Fedizen, We Distribute, and Brands.Town. Goofy but lovable, passionate about many things.

Federated Groups!
Group functionality continues to mature for Bonfire Community, so I recommend that everyone ought to check out a group to join! I ended up joining Fediverse Memes from Feddit, but any group from Lemmy, NodeBB, MBin, or PieFed ought to work!
sorry bro have a good day
They tried to scam Mastodon’s creator on Mastodon…

@sam@r1b.it I think a lot of it boils down to knowledge. You'd be surprised by the amount of people who need their hands held the first time they buy a domain name, who have never so much as paid for a subscription to a managed service before.
It's easy to take for granted the technical abilities that are necessary to self-host an instance. None of it is exactly difficult, but it's time-consuming and requires a lot of specific knowledge.
When evaluating a place you used to work, you can always tell what level of corporate a former employer has become by the lack of a page with employee faces and names on it. If you can't tell what people you know still work there, that company has taken too many funding rounds.
@vorboyvo@mstdn.isometry.group @OliviaVespera@spacey.space There's some integrations for AI tools and models, bot accounts, MCP stuff, and search. Fwiw, these all seem to be locally hosted, and it seems like there's plans to put strict controls on all of them.
I'm not completely thrilled at it, but it seems to be miles better than anything Maven was trying a few years back. They seem to also plan on following the "opt-in" model for searchability and discovery.
We're interested in opening up our instance a little bit to Fediverse power-users who want to help us dogfood #Bonfire. The environment seems to be mostly stable, but we're currently running on latest alpha / beta branches, so Here Be Dragons.
If you're interested in jumping over to a new instance and using it exclusively for a while, feel free to DM me for an invite!
@KarenKeiller@cosocial.ca @dawn@cosocial.ca I actually wouldn't mind seeing libraries running something along the lines of Bookwyrm or NeoDB! Being able to federate an entire library catalogue would actually be really cool.
Welley is an up and coming Fediverse platform that looks really nice. It's clean, has a ton of features, and seems to be inching closer to a full open source release.
You can learn all about it here: welley.com/
@Strypey Yes, that link should be good for about 10 uses total. Keep in mind, that counter goes down every time the link is used and a member is registered. However, the registration isn't treated as "real" until you click the confirmation link via email.
Regarding ATproto, we will probably rely on Bridgy Fed for the time being, as no module has been written for Bonfire specifically. We will probably investigate something similar for Nostr, when the time is right.
Every Godot release feels like Christmas for game developers. Their announcement pages are awesome, and there's often so many cool new things to try out.

@thelinuxexperiment@tilvids.com Man, KDE is such a joy to use these days. It makes me so happy to see that project continue to thrive.
@bitinn@mastodon.gamedev.place This is such a weird and wild development. I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about it.
On the one hand, it's admittedly impressive to see that people can do this. It's one of those things I think a lot of people shrugged off as being impossible, but we're getting working PC ports for games that were never designed for this.
On the other hand, this sounds like a nightmare escalation for companies trying to fight piracy. I expect we might see even more DRM in games, and an even heavier commitment to piracy litigation.
At first it was the Bermuda Rectangle. Then one of its sides disappeared.
In case you missed it: Anil Dash's opening speech for this past #FediForum was really, really good.

@nigel@unsociable.lowkey.party I think it's the Matrix Foundation itself that is hurting, I'm pretty sure Element itself is all under a private company.
@DekOfTheYautja@social.vivaldi.net Actually, that looks pretty nice. Seems that they're rolling their own federation with Polyproto instead of Matrix, though I can't say that I blame them.
I just feel like integrations for Element are kind of woefully unmaintained. There are community bots that you can run, such as a webhooks bot for reporting things, but all of that takes extra know-how and setup on the backend. It feels as though Element's official integrations offering never really got updated.
