@oemb1905 one other aspect for me is that, again thinking of my fantasy pair programming model, a big reason I'm interested in the tech is as a prosthetic and/or assistive device for pretty severe ADHD. if I spend 8 hours hacking on something with it, and it can potentially aid me in remaining aware of things in hour 8 that we explored in hour 1, that'd be amazing.
so apart from maybe expanding the high-use part of your scale, you might also want a modifier for if it was used as assistive tech.
@deutrino Really good feedback. I think your point about expanding the scale is well-taken. I might work on subscales within each band because I do recognize quite a bit within the "create" scale that's not necessarily 1:1 and/or equivalent lifting. Thanks for your feedback.
@oemb1905 useful concept. I think I may be landing at "genAI should never take a creative role," but there may be some distinction between the idea of it creating a finished product vs an outline from notes vs a skeleton for 500 unit tests without any non-boilerplate code.
additional context: I haven't used genAI for dev assistance yet, but at this point what I want in a coding assistant is less "barf out reams of code" and more "be a pair programmer who helps me puzzle thru things in English."
