suddenly remembered that my city has its own "official anthem", and wondered how common it would be in other countries, and of course there's a lot of them

russian doesn't have much in terms of dialect variety, usually what people know boils down to "in the south, they tend to not turn 'o' sounds into 'a' (or rather a schwa" and vocabulary is more of a "people from moscow call the curb of a road бордюр, people from saint petersburg say поребрик" thing, like between british and american english, but standard russian has had a lot of influence over the 20th century, what with TV and radio and common education curricula
@rnd …austro-bavarian is not a dialect of german in my opinion, but this is controversial among linguists

but i do hope it gets some kind of official recognition or promotion in schools in austria, because right now, it seems as if the government and state institutions and the media treat it more as "spicy german" :-(
@rnd Linz has some slogans, but no anthem to my knowledge. The region of upper austria does though, and it’s one of the very very few pieces of official media in the native tongue of austro-bavarian (as opposed to standard german)
