I don't think I've come across a found footage or horror mockumentary about an unaired reality show.
Why hasn't this happened? I'd love a well-done Marble Hornets or Blair Witch Project about an 00s Survivor or Fear knock-off that ended in disaster. The show was never aired, the deaths covered up.
The first episode would be about the lost media search and its eventual discovery.
I know found footage is done to death. But I still love it when there's something new going on.
It's one of the few genres of horror that can actually be scary to me.
And I think this mashup of themes could be fun and even have something to say.
I like this idea a lot, although as someone who dislikes scary stuff, I would probably never watch it.
Also: the series Unreal (drama about the making of a reality show) edges into that territory.
@suetanvil Do you know the year for Unreal? There are several things coming up and none of the descriptions match.
2016 maybe? It came out at around the same time as Mr. Robot. It was on the Hallmark channel, maybe.
@suetanvil That helped. Thanks!
I can only vouch for season one, but $SPOUSE and I binged it one weekend and it was a gutpunch.

I learned about this late 90s MTV show called Fear. I'm watching it now on YouTube. They get kids to film themselves doing challenges in haunted places. Its production was ethically dubious. (They made up most of the backstories and wore out the kids before shooting.)
But I'm like, this + Survivor + corporate coverup + lost media meta story + ARG.
