@uoou
How's snac going? Does the 'no database' bit create millions of files now 's been running for a while?
@uoou I'm kinda shocked by how small that is. That's 3 months of shared posts, with images, of everyone you follow?
It also has the big problem that all single-user instances I've tried had whereby clearly not everything gets through. By which I mean like if I open a thread on its home instance I see replies that don't appear on my instance. No amount of following relays and whatnot ever fixed that for me on any fedi server I've tried.
It bothers me less than it used to. And Snac makes clicking through to posts'/peoples' home instances a far more natural part of the flow than the other servers I've tried, which I like.
I'm not caching images. You can, optionally (I think), but I've never liked caching media.
So it's really just plaintext and metadata I assume.
And I also assume it ramps up dramatically the more people you follow. Though I believe it also starts deleting data after a time limit, so at some point I guess it'll reach a kind of equilibrium.
Going great, yeah, very much enjoying it. After about 3 months, it's created 148543 files which take up 155MB of space and it's using 40MB of RAM.
