Certain people who end up in my mentions: "HURRY, GUYS! We need to rewrite everything in a complex incompletely-specified language with one viable implementation/package ecosystem, controlled by a single team that includes AI boosters, and is currently in the news for DHH vibing in it. No time to lose, it's for the secure future of computing."

@sackofbones Yeah, I've seen screenshots of DHH like "I hate writing Rust, but now that we have agents, I don't have to! They can rewrite everything in Rust for me! And the language keeps the bots from security issues. I don't look at code anymore."

Which... is an appealing vision of the future for terrible people.

(I personally dislike Rust, but my solution is to just use languages I like instead. I have critiques about the language, sure. But it's the evangelists where I have *complaints*!)

I am very much in favor of dipshit Nazis believing this (please keep writing insecure code, nazis!), but oh god, I wish others did not.

It is both telling and depressing that there seems to be a class of overpaid white dudes that seem to be unaware of how easy it is to write memory-safe insecure code...

@aud Yeah like, I'm pretty sure that the password checking code in sshd is memory-safe, but you could shove a check into it to see if the password is "publicstaticfinalvoidmain" and if it is let the user through, it'd be memory safe but nobody in their right mind would call it secure

@MaddieM4 This isn't a dig at everyone who uses Rust. Plenty of Rust users aren't like that. But if you do feel targeted by this, consider changing your behavior, and then you won't feel targeted anymore. It's so simple, it just might work!
