Do we have any Mastodon friends in or near Spokane who could recommend a store that would deliver a new mattress and take away the old one? I need to buy one as a housewarming gift.

@darwinwoodka @NorcalGma2 We did Costco last time for that, the new mattress style (like Casper) is some kind of foam which comes shipped in a tiny little box and when you open it it expands to a GIANT mattress. So bizarre, lol. The mattress we got has been great so far! (2 years in). I recall they also would haul the old mattress (ours actually had been tossed as a result of a plumbing leak here, so we didn't use that service).

@NorcalGma2 @darwinwoodka Just verified, it looks like Costco is required in California to haul away old mattresses, but they do charge a recycling fee ($18.00 flat rate).
@ai6yr @NorcalGma2 @darwinwoodka We usually take advantage of retailers in Tokyo that will deliver the new item, install as appropriate (e.g., washing machine, A/C), and take away the old one. It’s usually priced into the product.

Most mattress companies will do that now I think. We got a Casper and they take the old one for recycling
