this meme pushed me down a rabbit hole because this school in Dayton, Ohio is 100% real exactly as depicted, and the more you look into it, the worse it gets

Incredibly unsafe location. Absolute sadsack excuse for a playground. The pavement looks like it's been bombarded. The curbs are cracked, the sidewalk is choked with grass, the doors look like they go to a murder basement. Most of the pictures online are of kids doing litter pickup On The Edge Of The Fucking Freeway because all the freeway litter blows directly into their tiny schoolyard. The cafeteria photo gave me claustrophobia

I think I understand why Ohio is a swing state now. This is the cultural experience that their children are getting in what is supposed to be the wealthiest nation in the world, and no-one's fixing it

@babble_endanger @0xabad1dea I wanted to double-check this one for myself, because it's almost cartoonishly bad.

And sadly, the answer is yes: The school in the motorway onramp is real.

And when you look at the school's website, almost every student is Black: https://daytonsmartelementary.org/
