@bigzaphod Fully agree! Made a brown bag about MacDVI (my DVI/HDMI adaptor for Mac Plus TTL video) in Daily Job and started with this slide about why doing retro-computing.

The first reason is exactly that: if you want to learn how all this stuff works, you need something simple. Nobody can understand an entire machine these days, but back then, one could. It was within the capacity of a single human (if you abstracted physics at some level, of course).
