Tiny person is having her first foray into WoW. She has chosen a troll hunter (because, like mum, she likes to have a pet), and is very excited about the idea of having a raptor mount at level 40.
It's kind of sweet for mum and dad because we spent a lot of time together in WoW 20 years ago, and it's how we kept in contact after university when we lived in different cities and couldn't afford a train ticket.
We have strict rules for online play, which I'm sharing here for other parents playing this with their kids for the first time. This is stuff I've learnt playing WoW over 20 years with kids in our guild, including measures we took to protect them, because they didn't have a parent online with them (sigh..)
TP is only 9, so strictly;
- only allowed to play when a parent is online and playing alongside TP.
- Chat window closed and only combat log open. If you can mute general chat, do so. Especially The Barrens general chat..
- No guild, unless it's the same guild as the parent.
- no speaking on chat, unless it's a party with other people we know in the real world, and we have said it's ok.
- strictly no discord or voice chat.
- if someone whispers to you, do not reply. Mum or dad will be in the room, so we have no need to use whispers and DMs
- no trading
We haven't got to dungeons or raids yet. We will avoid those for a while, unless we can get a whole group together of folks we know.
