Why do young people love going out so frickin' much? We get it. You love being out. You still believe the world is an inherently good place full of possibilities. You've not yet completed The Trials or know The Terrible Truth. Only indoors is safe. Inside with the doors locked and the curtains closed. At home where the TV and the biscuits live. There are no surprises at home. You cannot bump into people. No loud and terrifying public transport. Just soft carpet and your best friend - old Fridgey.
@TheBreadmonkey What happened to I Am Now Good Morning Man?
@purplepadma I am a man of contradictions. Capricious. An enigma shrouded in mystery. Unknowable. A human riddle.
@TheBreadmonkey We met our new neighbour today. He is a little odd, deaf as a post and I may be presumptuously diagnosing him here, but there’s something… Or maybe a bunch of somethings going on. Whatever, I’ve decided this: If George gives me an apple from his lovely tree next summer, I’ll probably just die for him in the apocalypse or something.
@TheBreadmonkey Preach! I'm DJing within a couple of metres of old Fridgey tonight
@bigvimto @TheBreadmonkey Old Fridgey is probably spying on you these days
HE WOULDN'T DO THAT YOU TAKE THAT BACK
Quite funny I've gendered my fridge as male. Wonder why. No boobs?
@TheBreadmonkey
Counter point: The bands I like don't play live music at my house. 🙂
That's my primary reason for still going out occasionally.
@TheBreadmonkey Fucking bumping into people. Hateful.
On the way back from the shops earlier a man with a dog said hello Ben and it took me ages to recognise him as a neighbour and then went OH SORRY I DIDN'T RECOGNISE YOU as with a sharp movement I went to say hello to the dog and so the dog barked at me and I said ok then bye and carried on walking. It was a 7 or 8 on the weird interaction scale.
@TheBreadmonkey @Nickiquote I had to interact with people today, many of them loud extroverts in a loud place, and it’s just the worst.
@TheBreadmonkey @Nickiquote I love how you remember these sort of things your entire life, it's a great feature of The Brain
@internetsdairy @TheBreadmonkey @Nickiquote
And the more excruciatingly embarrassing or awkward the encounter the more permanently it's etched into one's memory.
@Shivviness @internetsdairy @TheBreadmonkey My brain is 60% embarrassing interactions and 30% novelty songs and advertising jingles. I need to buy some cloud storage.
@Nickiquote @Shivviness @TheBreadmonkey Imagine you saw the Shake 'n' Vac lady in Safeway and accidentally called her "mummy"
@internetsdairy @Shivviness @TheBreadmonkey “Do the Shake n Vac and bring the good times back. Please. Please. Please.”
@Nickiquote @internetsdairy @TheBreadmonkey
It's all complete nonsense in my brain unfortunately, e.g. I've had the lyrics to the CBBC show "Henry's Cat" stuck in my head since I first encountered it in the early 80s.
Important things, e.g. how to administer CPR, which I have been shown how to do more than once, are not deemed worthy of permanent storage meanwhile.
@Shivviness @Nickiquote @internetsdairy @TheBreadmonkey You must have seen the movie, you must have read the book. He’s a mellow yellow feline… me too
@TheBreadmonkey
one of my favorite parts of 'adulting' is that my home is exactly where i want to be, the vast majority of time.
home could be a rough, challenging place full of conflict and problems when i was a kid. but now, home is a place of comfort, relaxation, and fun.
