OK, and ST:SNW S3WE09 "Terrarium" is also an amazing reflection and reimagining of some stuff from TOS.
I hear the criticism of SNW, and sure, but the things it's doing are as deep a textual engagement as Black Sails was with Treasure Island. I love when a text exists not just to extend, but to comment on and problematize another text.
@srol I mean, that's the nod to TOS, right? That's what ties it back to the TOS version of that scenario but inverts it.
@wlonk I liked this better as an enemy-of-my-enemy story than a divine judgment one. TOS loved its silly godlike species, it had like a dozen of them. I'm really fine with leaving most of them in the dustbin of Trek history. This is my personal complaint about post-Berman Trek. It's so in love with TOS. We've had decades of Trek since then. Let's move on.
@wlonk I really enjoyed the episode except for the Metron guy!
