Why? Everyone in the street that installed a heat pump decided to put the outside unit in the front garden, directing the noise to the street. Except for my weird neighbour. He put the outside unit in the back and it is now blowing directly in the direction of my bedroom windows. Le sigh.
@jwildeboer I am planning to install a heat pump next spring, but the placement of the outdoor unit still gives me a headache .. on the other hand, all my neighbors have very loud air conditioners. US manufacturers are not considering noise levels at all in their product design. Houses are humming and roaring at levels unimaginable in Germany. Indoors and outdoors
@jwildeboer That's the small price you pay for pushing heat pumps, I guess. Still annoying when your neighbour points it right at your bedroom.
@andre He has been doing (loud) construction work since February, I honestly don't know if he even plans to finish at all. It's a real nuisance. Since months. Putting the fans in my direction is merely the icing on the cake.
@jwildeboer That's really not nice. Maybe it would help to talk to him about it, because this counts as a noise disturbance and that's a serious issue.
@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net they make noise? I didn’t know that. I don’t think we’ll get one now. Even air-to-air ones?
@u0421793 It's not a lot of noise and I guess most people won't even notice the soft humming. But I am extremely sensitive to noises, especially during the night.
@jwildeboer@social.wildeboer.net I hadn’t thought about that. At night it’d be unwanted, and during the day if I start recording or live-streaming again, I’d want no environmental sounds. I won’t rush into it then.
@u0421793 It's less noise than a typical fridge makes. I can't see how an outdoor unit could interfere with live-streaming.
@jwildeboer ☝️ “Accidentally or intentionally, »that« is the question.”
