I do *not* need a portable metal folding bow.

@futurebird oh but imagine! you unfold your bow, and begin to play the violin, filling your enemies with terror!
@futurebird It's a cool idea, but I think this implementation would be horrible to use.
There's no hand grip and the riser (rigid centre section) looks very narrow, so it would be both uncomfortable and unstable in the bow hand when drawn.
It would also be a mechanically inefficient bow because of the weight of the metal limbs. Ideally you want the parts of the bow that flex to be as light as possible so that the largest possible proportion of potential energy put into the bow gets converted to kinetic energy in the arrow, not wasted as kinetic energy in the bow itself. This is why bow limbs are usually made from lightweight materials like wood, fibreglass or carbon fibre.
For what it's worth many conventional recurve bows with removable limbs can be packed down almost as compact as this.
I got a crossbow pistol. It's cheap and effective at pistol ranges. I can group within 10cm at 10m
What got it in my head was being fixated on watching Buffy. I thought "Heh... Medieval weapons for everything. Might get more done with a shotgun". And then I thought "Well, why not? That was state of the art weaponry at one time. It still works". It's fun to shoot, and <$100. You aren't getting the highest quality at that price, but you can get value out of it.
40 pound pull. A little under powered, but effective at 10 to 15 yards.
@futurebird
Too bad that there’s not an arrow shown. The center section is long and draw looks short.
@futurebird 40 lb pull is the low end of an adult compound bow. But it's sufficient to stab something at a distance.
@futurebird I've been watching people on youtube who use slings to throw various things, usually rocks.
Seeing somebody use a sling effectively is quite a sight.
@futurebird it's the pocket fishing pole for bow fishing
That's another thing that I do not need. And yet... the way they fold up... the little ... compartments...
@futurebird at least, it's one unneeded thing that does not take up much space
@futurebird I never used a bow before. But, I also have to admit that this pretty cool.
Now if you tell me that this uses infrared arrows, or something else that doesn’t require having to load, and reload, then that would be even cooler. But, that’s unrealistic...
