#Google MUST NOT decide what you can & can't download on YOUR #Android device.

This undermines one of Android’s defining features: the freedom to install software from wherever you choose. 💪

#Android is supposed to be open, & your phone should be yours → NOT GOOGLES.

Google plans to restrict side-loading, declaring war on Android freedom | Tuta

Starting 2027, Google will block apps on Android devices whose developers have not registered with Google, paid, and given their ID. It’s fair to say that Google is becoming Apple: Your device, their rules.

Yeah, same. I really hate the arrogant tone of the grapheneOS team. Tuey have a point, yes. But i don't like to have google hardware at all - b/c it supports google also to buy from them. I like to have repairable hardware. So graphene should clam down and partnering with for example fairphone or (better) shift to make a truely secure and rapairable option.

@chillypenguin @Tutanota SailfishOS uses their own closed source UI and application layer. It's very strange to claim the open source Android Open Source Project is somehow not Linux but another OS using a uniqu userspace stack which isn't open source is not.

SaiflishOS combines the worst of the privacy and security of ultra low end Android devices with a desktop OS without a modern privacy and security model, memory safe language use or exploit protections. It's a huge downgrade for those.
