@quincy same reaction I had when reading this. What they really do is trying to get rid of generation of incorrectly generated results. They replace the correctness issue with a usefulness issue snd call it "taste".

Finally solved by judicious use of a computer, but that's neither here nor there.
The current "AI revolution" it math has a completely different dynamic and motivation, doesn't it.
It's nothing but a blatant attempt to usurp and centralize the very means of doing intellectual work.
I contend that the reason for any perceived slowness isn't and has never been that our scientists are stupid and need "AI".
They already knew how to use computers to a good effect, and so (incredible how this could be forgotten, given that it's so inherent in the profession) did programmers.
No-one needs your "AI" and your simplistic accelerationism.
