Such an own goal...
If Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer end up being the House and Senate majority leaders, they will enter those positions being MASSIVELY UNPOPULAR according to their favorability.
Chuck Schumer:
Favorable: 15%
Unfavorable: 68%
Net Favorability: -53%
Hakeem Jeffries
Favorable: 23%
Unfavorable: 56%
Net Favorability: -33%
This is why we need NEW LEADERSHIP!

@mastodonmigration — public popularity and internal organizational power are not necessarily related. Entirely different skill sets. Speaker of the House and Majority Leader of the Senate are extraordinarily powerful roles. Perhaps more suited to assassins than celebrities.
The people who win these roles are utterly ruthless and maintain powerful whip
operations. They pay zero attention to popularity.
It’s healthy and proper that the organization test that strength periodically through open challenge. Don’t be disappointed if that fails this time. Dominance is much harder than it looks.
