I just realized something important: we need to pressure our Dem representatives-elect about Jeffries NOW, BEFORE they're sworn in.
Why? Because "[a]t the start of a new Congress, those voting to elect the speaker are representatives-elect, as a speaker must be selected before members are sworn in to office; the House of Representatives cannot organize or take other legislative actions until a speaker is elected." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Speaker_of_the_United_States_House_of_Representatives
(Senate is different: "the Senate majority leader is elected by the party conference or caucus at the beginning of each Congress." https://ballotpedia.org/State_Senate_Majority_Leader. But we should reach out to senators-elect sooner rather than later, too; once they're in DC they'll be surrounded by Establishment pressure.)
... Which raises the vital question: how do we contact our new, incoming congresspeople and senators BEFORE they're sworn in? Really asking!
