I (re)started writing my dreams after waking up. But sometimes my brain's memory-inhibiting juice is too powerful and after a day I truly have no idea what the dream was, and all I'm left with is my half-asleep self trying to get a word out

If I wake up, then go back to sleep for an hour, I'm way more likely to have a really vivid dream that I can remember and write down when I'm fully awake. Im not a neurologist but I wonder if the first waking causes memory inhibition to stop?
