It's bandcamp friday. That's the day bandcamp doesn't charge musicians any fees on sales.
I know a lot of musicians and I run a record label and I could share a bunch of musicians that you might like, but I've done that before.
Today I'm going to do something different and I'm just going to talk about one band for a minute.
But then Ryan and I opened a record store together, and Hurly Burly and the Volcanic Fallout got back together to play our grand opening party.
And then they didn't perform together again until, I think 2022.
Ryan and I opened a makerspace, and Violet flew in to town, and they kidnapped Sean from having a family and being a scholar and got back together and recorded Giant Robot Jetpack.
It was the very first thing we did in the makerspace!
And it's exactly the kind of nostalgic, loud, aggressive garage rock you'd expect from a bunch of friends getting back together to record an album 15 years or so after they stopped making music.

Hurly Burly and the Volcanic Fallout
The album is loud and goofy and a lot of fun. It opens with a cover of the Megas XLR theme song, which I think is adorable.
Megas XLR, if you don't remember it, was a show about a mechanic who finds a mech from the future, and mods it with a sports car.
What I need you to understand is that, until earlier this year, it was the most Hurly Burly and the Volcanic Fallout thing imaginable.

@ajroach42 I have been a night owl most of my life, since I was a kid I was lucky to get more than six hours of sleep a night. This show would play pretty late and I'd watch it if it was on. One night when I was like 12 my dad called down the stairs asking me what I was doing. Said "I'm watching Megas XLR". He comes flying down the stairs. "WHAT?!! MEGA SEX LR??! THAT CAN'T BE AGE APPROPRIATE!!!" Lolol
But earlier this year Violet was kind enough to record the theme song for our new cartoon Kumiai-Ki The Mighty Labor Union Mech.

There are three versions of the track up at that link, a clean(ish) version, a super distorted version, and an instrumental version of the super distorted version.
And, at least as far as I'm concerned, it is now the must Hurly Burly thing to ever exist.
@ajroach42 you had me at Megas XLR theme song.
@ajroach42 We! Dig! Giant robots! 🤘😎
Today we're talking about Hurly Burly and the Volcanic Fallout: https://hurlyburlyandthevolcanicfallout.bandcamp.com/album/giant-robot-jetpack
So Hurly Burly and the Volcanic Fallout is a band composed of Violet Hunter (better known as @DoctorDeathray ) and my good friend Ryan and a rotating array of drummers and support musicians, but especially Sean Parchim on drums.
Well they *were* a band anyway, when all of those people were in highschool approximately 20 years ago. They stopped performing together in, I dunno, 2009? 2010?
