I am baffled by our heat pump, and why it is heating even though it is not a time that it should be heating, and that it is already hotter than the temperature to which it should be heating.
Tomorrow, I need to read some manuals, and work out what is going on.
Never put off until tomorrow what you can admit you will never do until [thing] [fails catastrophically|becomes unresponsive|mildly annoys your life partner].
@neil Since it certainly has a computer of some sort in it, I'll ask the obligatory IT Crowd question:
Have you tried turning it off and on again?

@neil heat curve and weather comp are the first areas of the manual to read. Slow, small changes to avoid driving yourself crazy.
The other thing I needed to do was to set my radiators up properly, rather than my old gas boiler approach of "turn them on full and let the thermostat work it out"
@ahnlak I am rather hoping that the installer set them up (and he did seem to know what he was doing, and was patient in talking me through it).
@neil I get the feeling it might be one of those things that you have to see how it sits in the house over time, versus being able to set it right from day 1.
But it's a great time of year to be doing it - I was trying to configure it in March or April, which is really awkward weather for heating ;-)
@ahnlak Yes, that makes sense. And I do accept that it will take time.
But we used a *load* of electricity today, and the house was uncomfortably warm, so I need to sort something sooner rather than later :)

@neil oh wow good luck! I've been trying to track an issue with our smart heating where something other than the "smart" part is calling for heating when something happens.
Last year we came back from holiday to find that it'd been on for an entire week and the bathroom radiator had started to leak. I've got a joplin note that's bordering on longer than my dissertation on observations and possible causes/solutions. It drives me nuts.
@neil That does sound surprising.
@neil Have you tried tickling it behind the ears? Maybe it just wants to be appreciated?
@neil weather compensation, preheat for DHW, lots of possibilities!
@neil There's a solenoid that switches from heat to cool mode. After a thunderstorm, ours got stuck in "cool" mode. We didn't notice until winter when we wanted not-cool.
