Apple’s “Pro and Tell” event in Los Angeles, the new MacBook Pros with PROLED XDR displays, and the state of the Macintosh platform.
@gruber You're so bad...😄
I never thought I'd be able to use the word flaneur organically, but this was definitely the account of a flaneur.
Methinks Jay Peterman needs to purchase some of Kramer's stories, to reference Seinfeld so as to soften an implied criticism.
Like if you had gotten mugged at any one of the many auditoriums you describe as having varying atmospheres it might punch up the narrative.
I usually enjoy your writing a lot. This was a bit more like the type of inconsequential chatter my mind has as I'm falling asleep. But I can't fault the commitment to capturing in detail what to most might appear like fog, and at such length, as well.
@gruber That one probably deserved a two-star title prefix in my RSS read. I look forward to the completed autobiography. 😉
@gruber I imagine this post was created from a small mountain of scribbles on napkins and post-it notes. I know that’s certainly not the case, but this is some goddamn writing.
@gruber also worried re direction of the Mac but hope the last paragraph rings true.
@gruber Having lived in both SF and LA after being from NYC, LA is always super interesting; maybe arguably the most interesting city in the US at the moment….provided that people don’t just stay on the west side. It’s the 2nd largest city outside of New York, and economically dwarfs SF outside of the tech sector. But also it’s in many ways the cultural centers of latino and asian american culture, as well as it’s traditional strength in American creative culture ie the music/film industries
@gruber Safari Reader not working on this link, FYI.
@gruber One of the things I miss most about SF and the Moscone Centre from the 2000s was the video-game arcade in the Metreon that had an Airtight Garage theme.
@gruber Busted out laughing at the 2nd paragraph… @daringfireball
