Al Jazeera: Protesters break into Microsoft AI data centre site in Amsterdam
More than 100 activists broke into a Microsoft data centre construction site in Amsterdam, climbing cranes and hanging anti-AI banners. This marks the start of two days of coordinated protests across 16 countries against the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure.

***I have to admit being confused and lost by the end of that movie, on what happened, what is real vs. what is not real, etc. etc. etc. 🤷
@ai6yr If you watch Snow Piercer, you’ll see an homage to “Brazil”that actually goes more in depth to Brazil and IMO, they should’ve been run sequentially in theaters… except of course, they were made decades apart.
Apparently in real life the American distributors wanted a happy ending, while GIlliam wanted a depressing ending.
The compromise was that there is an apparently rather unsatisfactory happy ending, but in countries outside the US the film continues and it is revealed that the happy ending was just the main character imagining it, while in reality he is actually being tortured by the regime. He is trying to use escapism to get away from his pain.
Within the US, on the original release they apparently just got the unsatisfactory happy ending as if it was real.
@ai6yr it’s real until Palin’s character is shot and the rescue crew descends.
@ai6yr The main character was an unreliable narrator, and the story was told from his point of view. He already had a tenuous grasp on reality to start with and started losing his mind more and more as time went on. By the time he was captured and interrogated, he had completely lost it.
That's why it made little sense at the very end until the very last scene where he was basically catatonic in that chair with the two dudes standing over him.
