nope!
how do I know? we could completely solve poverty right now for around 10% of elon musk's net worth. but we don't! because there's no money in it. and that's that. end of story.
@AmyZenunim poverty has also been linked to increased cancer risk, thus eliminating poverty is likely to reduce cancer cases
@ariadne @AmyZenunim this may be because cancer-inducing jobs (miner, for example) have been linked to low wages areas. Even if you give the miner a good salary, the cancer will still be there. (Note: this is me guessing, and I'm not saying the only noticeable chunk of correlation comes from here, eating cheap unhealhy foor probably amounts to a big number of the cancers too)
@AmyZenunim @pipodice it is part that, but also that impoverished areas have less medical resources that translates to less early detection of cancer.
@ariadne @AmyZenunim It's not just due to poverty or economic inequality per se though, but also policy based on environmental racism and such, right?

we could solve hunger and poverty overnight, which would eliminate a huge percentage of health issues to the point it'd make any hypothetical cancer cure blush.

AI is useful for wage suppression and power consolidation. *those* things make money. :)
