🤔
Unironically seems like a good exercise, though.
I'd start with giving them some kind of future to look forward to -- and maybe we can start back into that work now? Maybe? Here's hoping.
Here's how this will all pan out. I have foreseen all [insert spooky noise left over from Halloween] ...
The machines will need us to handle the exceptions. Until the sun burns down to a cinder, they will always need us. They're good at rules, we're so far out in front on exception handling ...
There will be a future for our kids. Educated kids, especially educated girls.
I was thinking of global warming, but the "employment" economy also needs to go.
The whole point of automation is that we can have the same (or better) quality of life while working less -- and yet jobs are harder to find, worse than ever, and many people have to have three of them in order to achieve even a minimal standard of existence.
AI is the argument for UBI*.

(*...and breaking up every business into neighborhood-sized co-ops, but that's a different rant.)
I call 'em Jerbs. Amazon serfs. We need another Teddy Roosevelt to break up these titanic concentrations of wealth.
It's demonstrable cheaper to feed and house people than to put them through the justice system. It's demonstrably cheaper to run a free health clinic than fill the Emergency Room.
Tell that to some skinflint conservative some time. As him about his health care.
(I remember "Jerbs" from Homestar Runner :D)
Unfortunately, "conservatives" are notoriously bad at any math or other reasoning which conflicts with their group-beliefs.
(Also, I think it was FDR, not Teddy, who did the New Deal... and Biden enacted legislation on a similar scale, which would have been really tremendous if it had lived, but then most of it was undone by TFG. We need to make sure we don't lose momentum by 2028...)
@paninid
This is very simple to discern: the AI writes better English.
