I wish I could've gotten a later showtime of Wildwood so I didn't have to run right to the theater after work, but it's playing in so few places now and every showtime after 5pm is still sold out or front row only.
I had no idea this movie was based on a book written by Colin Meloy and I have no idea what to do with this information.
I almost made a joke when I learned this about how plinths would probably be very important in this movie (plinths are very big in Decemberists songs). I wish I had because plinths were very important in the movie.
Words fail in talking about the artistry of this movie. A once-in-a-lifetime achievement. And how refreshing to have an animated film for children (who are mature enough for some light murder) where every character isn't always saying "So, uh, that just happened."
@srol I definitely misread this as Colm Meany and got REALLY excited
Shortly after The Decemberists released The Hazards of Love, iTunes recommended me a direct-to-video release by them under the same name. I, being young and stupid, thought maybe they had turned the concept album into a musical and immediately bought it.
It was just the video they played on the backdrop at their concerts. At least half of it is just slow motion seed pods exploding over the album's music.
When I was a kid, I never understood why my parents didn't want to sit in the front row at the movie theater. Where else would you want to sit?
