DHS Reports a Death Connected to the Ongoing Measles Outbreak
Amid highest number of measles cases in decades, health officials urge vaccination
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) is saddened to report the death of an infant associated with the ongoing measles outbreak in southwestern Wisconsin. This is the first death of this kind reported in Wisconsin since 1990. The coroner listed the immediate cause of death as measles. To protect the privacy of the family and the child, DHS will not release any additional information related to the death.
@ai6yr infants are so vulnerable. They are too young to be vaccinated, so they rely on the rest of us to be vaccinated in order to protect them. That's the part that people don't get: it's not just so *you* don't get it; you are protecting others, too.
