think you might have pests in your attic? cut away a small square of the ceiling below, and wait until it's dark. if you can see a red light flickering through the gap in the floorboards, then it's almost certainly mice. the light comes from the optical sensor which is on the underside of the mouse

@jk heads up: if you see green light, it might still be mice. my attic had Logitech mice and some of them did that

@jk You know, there used to be a time where mice had balls on the underside instead of optical sensors. You had to clean them regularly as well in order to keep them rolling smooth. =)
