Apple Support: ‘About the Illuminated Apple Logo on MacBook Pro With PROLED XDR Display’

@daringfireball the glowing logo was fun when it signaled one’s counterculture status. Now that they’re mainstream it’s just obnoxious. I felt it was time when Apple retired it. Think of the famous lecture hall MacBook photo—and that was what, 15 years ago?
@daringfireball What's interesting is that this setting can only exist on the PROLED XDR Display. The logo on previous MacBooks was just a window to the screen's backlight. But OLED displays have no backlight, so they had to add a separate light to illuminate the logo. And that means it can be controlled. Next up: controllable RGB logo lighting.
@daringfireball it’s pointless to swipe up running apps on a regular basis but if you’re out and about and want to be sure that some misbehaving app doesn’t burn through your battery, it’s a good idea to manually close your apps. Especially if the battery is already nearly dead.
@daringfireball now we need an API so we can have some fun with it.
@daringfireball Any idea how far in advance they have to prepare for the special events? It’s a lot of work to pull that off, seamlessly, in a different location than they typically use so I can’t imagine the logistics of that.
