In his view of the world, Trump is the shining beacon of power and wisdom, so why should he care about those losers that couldn't win their local elections? Let them suffer. By accepting the election results. That's how he thinks, in my opinion.
@jwildeboer
It's a classical narcissistic trait:
You become invisible when you're not useful to the narcissist anymore.
In his mind, they deserve the criticism because they lost and that makes them look bad. The president is now focusing on looking good (again) with his White House renovation, his ball room, his Arc de Trump, etc.
Now here is the other "little" thing. "His" Supreme Court doesn't follow all of his orders. Which is unacceptable to him. Will his pressure force one or two of the more conservative judges to step back? I mean, they do care about their place in history. Thing is: if they step back, new judges must be approved by the now democratic congress. #Oops.
@jwildeboer Well. The new congress only starts mid January, so they have a small window of opportunity there. But it's dubious if this manoeuvre would work out.
Some GOP sentators are leaving because Trump did endorse in-party competitors that failed to secure a seat, so they don't seem inclined to follow allong. In fact, they are inverse lame ducks, if you will.
@ftranschel If the judges thinking about this are smart (and they are) they will wait with their annoucement. And don't forge the precedent that the republicans delayed new judges to wait until the next election 😉 Tough for them to claim a 180 is totally normal ...
@jwildeboer Right, but there is still the pronounced latency between retirement and the confirmation proceedings. If the former doesn't happen before end of Nov, I think that's never going to be enough time to go through for the latter.
@jwildeboer
He is also watching for disloyalty now, to remember and punish those later.
