I want watch videos with a friend who is
1. on another continent
2. behind a internet connection with a limited upload
We need it to stay in sync with either of us able to control the video playback.
Any good solutions for this? I've got a server where I can install stuff, so I don't need something hosted.

@foone Jellyfin has functions for watch party. I haven't tried that function, though.
@foone Oh, if the video is publicly reachable on the internet (or yt-dlp can find the stream) I made a small website for that:

Something where you play the video on your computer, share the screen and control with your buddy?
(Not optimal, but workable with off the shelf stuff...)
@foone I have heard of SyncPlay, but I have also heard that SyncPlay desynchronizes alot.
