Some drone video f the catastrophic flooding in TN and GA (!).
@ai6yr ooph. They don't look built to deal with the volume of water.
Just looking at the "before" pics the street drainage system doesn't seem up to even hard rain... interval, size of drains, likely indicating the infra not up to challenge. :/
Floods this volume must be a more recent development than the stuff built.
@LeslieBurns @ai6yr when you live in this storm-flogged peninsula you learn to accept them as facts of life (hence things I drive) but here the infrastructure for high volume drainage is in place, and building codes are up there, of necessity. You learn to discern "bad place to get caught in storm/flash flood" on sight, and even the "before" aerial pics of that place made me twitch.
@ai6yr ay chihuahua
@ai6yr I still have not seen any comment from your president on this. Is it just not making news outside US?
@CStamp It's not making news in the US, in general, I suspect. Very few of these disasters have been. Only regional news coverage. There was a catastrophic flood in Florida on Monday, no coverage in Los Angeles.
@ai6yr I guess this has something to do with it, though I would've thought Florida would get special consideration. https://www.politico.com/news/2026/11/05/fema-trump-disaster-aid-data-01151704
@ai6yr Good think the GQP lead government poured $$$$$ into FEMA and made sure they have sane, competent leadership
@ai6yr wonder whether Trump withholds aid from even Red states after election
@ai6yr ugh
Quit reminding me to get a canoe
Call in the submersible Lotus.
@ai6yr oh, this is the second 100 year storm to hit that area in 3 months. And they have cut back all the trees near the highway for a future expansion, so the storm drains immediately fill with mud
@ai6yr river was 18 ft above normal, and got there quickly. I know.people that had to leave their home by boat
Looks like, at the very least, a complete remodel of every single first story of every single building in Copperhill, TN. Looks like the entire town turned into a lake.
Wow, that is DEEP. And those videos show it flowing. About at the 7 ft-8 ft mark based on the size of the SUV and the location of the sign.
@ai6yr the whole area was under water in August, too - McCaysville GA on the other side of the river just got their police office back opened last week from that flood cleanup! https://apnews.com/article/mccaysville-fannin-flooding-rescue-evacuations-6e0a283ff54238cba9677602f5e0878e
This town's businesses are most certainly completely wiped out and must start from scratch. Hope they are insured.
@ai6yr This is maybe half an hour up the road from me, and the second time things have flooded in two months.
Damn I hate seeing these things.
@ai6yr Flooding was always a concern we had in my hometown (South Georgia). Hurricanes usually passed over us, but I remember that one year water flooded our street, turning it into a little river just outside our house.
Can't imagine what it would be like to have our house be half submerged under water. Cause few people in my family know how to swim.
