@lanodan Being environmentally conscious isn't reduced to the amount of CO₂ emissions, but CO₂ emissions are what is currently spelling our doom the fastest, so it kinda makes sense to drop everything else to focus on that.
@ska Consider that I live in a region where farming industry consequences (massive amount of green algae) results in seriously lethal gasses on some beaches.
Or same region, where getting the results of oil spills isn't uncommon, and that's not exactly healthy either.
(And I could go on and on)

@lanodan As cold and unsensitive as it may seem, these are local problems. They are serious, yes, but they aren't new (oil spills have wrecked marine and shore environments since oil extraction exists), and even though they're devastating where they happen, the planet recovers from them.
This isn't the case with GHG emissions (including methane, which you may have). The planet is not recovering from that. So it makes sense to raise global awareness on GHG, while local catastrophes keep being managed locally.
@lanodan
Born at 0 LLM 😌
Plus honestly if you reduce ecology to caring about the amount of CO₂ in the atmosphere: You're part of the problem.
