I use to be a big Hackintosh person back in the early 2000's. I ran Linux but the user interfaces just weren't as nice. But today, i feel like Gnome and KDE are often better than my MacOS experience, and no longer feel like i need a hackintosh.

@mainframed767 my most recent laptop is a Macbook Pro, because the hardware is just so much better than anything x86_64 in the same price range, but I kinda regret it. The software is terrible. I genuinely hate MacOS. It's got a weird CLI experience (filesystem layout is a hodgepodge mess of UNIX and historic Mac conventions), inferior CLI commands, opaque and confusing GUI. Hardware is maybe the nicest of any laptop I've owned, and the CPU is wicked fast, but the OS is a real stinker.
@mainframed767 I daily switch between GNOME and MacOS and prefer so much more GNOME. Cleaner, faster and more organised while Apple adds useless touch functionality to their OS 🤦
@mainframed767 kinda same, I was dabbling with hackintoshing almost a decade ago, which indirectly led me to discovering Linux and both GNOME for the UI and Proton (for gaming, which was just released at the time) hooked me
never looked back since
