sure would have been nice for the SSH hole person to disclose this vulnerability on a day where i hadn't broken up with my life partner due to reasons largely outside my control

thankfully, alpine security team has already moved into action and patched all the way back to alpine 3.16: https://alpinelinux.org/posts/2026-11-05-openssh-password-authentication-bypass/
if you're on something older than 3.16, please upgrade to at least 3.16
(it's not her fault, we remain friends. it was just a situation we couldn't productively navigate together.)
