@ai6yr I was watching this morning on the local ATL news (I live one county south of this) as a building’s propane tank floating the the floodwaters between two buildings erupted in flames and the firefighters were trying to figure out if they could use a boat to haul the hoses over to where they might be able to put it out and boy, McCaysville didn’t need this.
On the other hand, this swiftwater rescue team is just hanging out posing for the TV crews, with no particular urgency. 🤔
(news did report many rescues and mutual aid)

@ai6yr lol you…. Or they are checking equipment, strategizing their next rescue, or trying to fix something with their craft.
Our agency has some of those Swiftwater rescue boats and there is always something on them needing adjustment, repair, or maintenance.🤪
@ai6yr
They're probably waiting for someone to point out that it's a lot easier to rescue people if they don't fill the boat up completely with rescuers 🤔
@me_valentijn I'm pretty sure the producer asked them to stand there and load up some people in the boat for show.
@ai6yr This is what the president should be concerned with, not reflecting pools and non-existent nuclear bombs.
@CStamp Correct, we should have been spending an immense amount of time and money on climate mitigation, as well as trying to ramp down fossil fuels usage. But, no. Money and power is more important than keeping the planet habitable.
** producer: "hey guys, can you stand in the water with your raft in front of the American flag? That would be a fabulous news shot!"
On the OTHER hand, holy crap. Hope people are okay, that's one where you get swept up in a flood in your car and you hop out and go downstream and hope you hit a tree.

@ai6yr ...more and more to come as the years go by.
@ai6yr hmm, the street lights and signals look like they are still functioning, I wonder if the control cabinet is mounted high and dry
