"It will be Motorola’s first device to support GrapheneOS, a hardened, open-source operating system based on the Android Open Source Project. Developed in partnership with the GrapheneOS Foundation, the leading nonprofit in advanced mobile security, the device reflects Motorola’s commitment to bringing cutting-edge security to everyday users across the globe."
What a milestone, @GrapheneOS . Congrats!
@stefani @ryse A used Pixel 8a is available for around $200 and meets all of our requirements. It's one of our recommended devices and still has over 4.5 years of support remaining out of the original 7 years.
There will be more Motorola devices supported in the future. Their other devices don't yet meet all of our requirements, mainly due to lack of MTE support for any non-flagship Snapdragon SoC. A flagship Snapdragon SoC likely costs around $200-$300 per phone right now.
@ryse @GrapheneOS I'm all for the GrapheneOS. No idea why they had to ruin it with Gemini AI.
@LilPecan @GrapheneOS Did I miss something? What happened?
@ryse @GrapheneOS I'm all for the open source OS but, security-wise, doesn't it defeat the purpose of having a non-android OS if it's loaded with Gemini AI? Maybe I'm missing something.
@ryse @GrapheneOS
$1600 is kind of ouch. Still, it's nice to see GrapheneOS on a brand new device instead of being limited to outdated Google phones
