This morning Chuck Schumer is telling everyone, "I'll be reelected a majority leader." But does he have the votes? The answer would appear to be NO.

Senate 2027 Majority Leader Whip Count

Prospective whip count of 2027 Democratic Senators who are likely to support and oppose Chuck Schumer for Majority Leader. Those listed in opposition have either made public statements that he should be replaced or waffled when asked if they would support him. Those listed as supporters have either stated their support or are pretty solid moderates generally known to be in the Schumer camp.

Is there a similar donut graph for Jeffries?

@mastodonmigration to a point: I suggest next SML be Senator-elect Sherrod fucking Brown!!!

@mastodonmigration also, Peggy Flanagan!!! Ojibwe ties, progressive, DFL, ran on abolish ICE.

Prog strategy: help these two have a graceful and noisesome challenge on prog issues leading up to majority leader selection, and suck the wind out of schumer’s sails.

Tb be clear, #schumer could ensure he GETS the votes he needs to become #Senate majority leader by publicly stating he will pursue an an aggressive, progressive agenda while simultaneously holding the Trump administration accountable for its lawbreaking.

The #bluewave didn’t happen because anyone was excited to put up with more of that old man’s tepid bullshit. We need to push the #Democratic party to deliver.

@mister_shade02X2 @mastodonmigration if one looks at schumer’s past performance, he is not agenda driven, certainly not aggressive, has never resisted oligarchy/donors, and values comity over opposing Trump like it’s a war for the nation’s soul. Nope.

@cascheranno @mister_shade02X2 Completely agree. The next 2 years would be constant frustration trying to get through him. We need a fighter. Someone who will grab the mandate given to them by the voters and run with it.
